FROM LIGHT TO BLUE
After applying the light-sensitive solution, the paper is exposed to sunlight or UV light. It is then washed with water, and the characteristic blue image slowly appears.
No two prints are exactly the same. Light, time, materials and a little bit of chance all contribute to surprising results.
That is exactly what makes cyanotype so special.
SMALL-SCALE & PERSONAL
The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as photographers and artists who want to explore this fascinating technique.
With a maximum of 5 participants, there is plenty of room for personal guidance, questions and experimentation.

WHAT IS CYANOTYPE?
Cyanotype is a unique photographic printing process that has been around for more than 170 years. Using light, water and a light-sensitive solution, you create the characteristic deep-blue images.
The technique was developed in 1842 by Sir John Herschel and was originally used for technical drawings and blueprints. Later, artists and photographers discovered its unique creative possibilities. Botanist Anna Atkins was one of the best-known pioneers of the technique.Anna Atkins was een van de bekendste pioniers van deze techniek.

DURING THE WORKSHOP
You will learn step by step how to create your own cyanoprints. You can experiment with:
🌿Flowers & leaves
Use natural materials to create surprising prints.
✂️ Shapes & objects
Discover how light, shapes and textures come together to create an image.
📷 Your own photographs
Turn one of your own photographs into a unique cyanoprint.
FROM PHOTOGRAPH TO CYANOPRINT
You can also work with your own photographic negative.
A photograph can be converted into a negative in Photoshop and adjusted to the paper size used during the workshop. The negative is then printed onto transparent film and used to create your own photograph as a cyanoprint.
This creates a fascinating combination of digital photography and an age-old analogue technique.
